SF #174 – Do Your Due Diligence and Excel

November 9, 2014 by Success Freaks

Working to excel in this life, do you do your due diligence?  Are you willing to put in the effort required now in order to make sure your business, goal, and/or relationship smoothly sails forward later?  If you are wanting things to grow/expand/explode and in a good way in your life, you might find you are going to have to put in some sweat equity early on to set things up to go that way.  And, that’s what this episode is about: doing your due diligence, those things you need to do, to excel in life.

Mordant discovers that by putting a day’s worth of effort into setting up several Excel spreadsheets, he can streamline calculations that would normally take him hours on his own.  In this episode of Success Freaks, both he and McFall discuss what it takes to set yourself up to succeed – both the struggles and pay off of.

SF #169 – Fear of Success … #118 Revisited

October 3, 2014 by Success Freaks

Since Mordant is traveling from Minnesota to North Carolina, we’re revisiting SF #118 this week. We sincerely hope you enjoy it.

Is fear of success a real thing? If so, why are people so afraid of this beneficial thing they keep saying that want out of life? So many people unknowingly sabotage themselves without realizing it and then wonder why they’re not succeeding.

Fear of Success means being afraid of the very thing you desire. Giving into that fear will keep you safely ensconced in that snuggly-safe bed you are making for yourself by not taking the steps necessary to live a bigger, badder, better, more life. Moving beyond this self-imposed mediocrity means giving up what you’re comfortable with. It means leaving your comfort zone and taking enough of a leap of faith to take a closer look at what you need to change in order to be successful.

SF #168 – The Rhythm of Change

September 28, 2014 by Success Freaks

Change happens!  You can either dig in your heels, hoping against hope that things will stay the same stale-sweet way they’ve always been – or you can get into the flow of things, growing and leveling up your life as you go.  The choice, as always, is yours.

This episode, Mordant & McFall entertain and edify you as they share what it means to “embrace The Rhythm of Change” via a variety of anecdotes, shifting points of view, and even comedic voices.  Nothing is safe, not even your favorite holidays.  Listen in as McFall gleefully rants about birthdays and Halloween while Mordant waxes funly philosophical in the face of such holiday-hating hi-jinx. SF #162 – Positive Aggravation

August 17, 2014 by Success Freaks

Can there really be a silver lining when thing after thing after thing after thing doesn’t go your way?  What really is the benefit of that?  Sometimes we as people can be a little thick.  Sometimes we need Shakabuku: “a swift, spiritual kick to the head that alters your reality forever.”  Often, it is only those aggravating things that give us the impetus to pop out of that rut we’ve become oh-so comfortably numb in. July 29, 2014 by Success Freaks

Ever have one of those breakups?  With a special someone?  A favorite job?  The way you thought your life should be going?  Though over, there is still that spark, that chance that everything might get back to normal.  So you try stifling your sniffling in the hopes that the waiting game you’re playing might pay off.  Instead of postponing the inevitable and hoping against hope that your special someone/career-path/life-choice will realize their mistake and come to their senses, wouldn’t it be a better idea to move on with being awesome and…

Success Freaks #158 – Forgiveness versus Guilt

July 25, 2014 by Success Freaks

“The Key to greater Willpower is being more Forgiving – not being harder on yourself.”  “Self-control strategies like Guilt and Self-Criticism can result in our feeling worse.”  We need to give those up if we hope to succeed.

Chapter Six (and the rest) of Kelly McGonigal’s The Willpower Instinct is full of liberating gems such as these.  Necessary Words of Wisdom when we grow up believing we’re not going to get anything done, let alone keep our promises and resolutions, if we’re not at least a little hard on ourselves.  Studies show this belief does not hold up in practical application. Success Freaks #155 – Change In the Now

July 4, 2014 by Success Freaks

With Special Guest Bishop Jim Swilley

With so many Changes happening day-to-day, it’s difficult to keep up with what’s going on in your life – let alone everyone else’s.  What happens when the dream you once held so tightly onto morphs into…something else?  What if it’s worse?  What if it’s better?  What if it works out, but it looks nothing like what you were hoping/praying/longing for it to be?  How can you divorce yourself from the goals you’ve been married to for so long?  Doesn’t that mean turning your back on everything you’ve been standing for?  Won’t that make you…a failure!?

Mordant & McFall invite Bish In the Now & Metron’s own Jim Swilley back to Success Freaks for a candid discussion about what it means to maintain an attitude of non-attachment.  By advancing to the rear (or left or right), you finally relax that chokehold you’ve have on the way you thought things should turn out.  Instead, you  achieve your success by adapting, bending like reed, and Rolling with the Changes. SF #274 – When Things Don’t Go Your Way

There are perfect days, when the sun is shining, birds are singing, and babies giggle in joy at the site of you.  Then, there are those dark days When Things Don’t Go Your Way.  You know, the ones where you lose your keys, drop your phone in the toilet, and the dog uses the remote […]
