TOSOL #39 – Discovering Plan B

Benjamin Franklin said, “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”  The only thing you can truly count on is, at some point, life is going to throw a hiccup into your normal routine that threatens to ruin your day and/or stop you in your tracks.  How will you handle it?  You can panic or…you can use the time to discover your own Plan B.

In a mad-capped hour of pure-adrenaline A.D.D. overload, Mordant & McFall discuss their recent “life hiccups,” share how they overcame said obstacles as well as the things they learned about themselves along the way, all the while bouncing through talk about friends’ new businesses, William Shatner, Glee, “Squirrel Boy,” babies, storms, Instagram, Get Glue, Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, exchanging gifts, and anything else that pops into their “amusement-park-ride” brains.  Keep up if you can.  (Ten points for Gryffindor if you can say all that in one breath.)

This month’s Success Freaks segment, Uncovering Your Special Talent, rounds out the hour by letting you figure out what brings you the greatest joy at work and leads you to that success you’ve always dreamed of.

Welcome to the first ever TOSOL MeetUp—held at the Gangplank Studios in Chandler, AZ.  This show, broadcast in front of a LIVE studio audience of five women (and one dog…a real four-legged dog), leaves Mordant “swimming in the estrogen pool” and McFall falling in love with the idea of his own Charlie’s Angels every time the ladies speak in unison.

Safely ensconced in the Bear’s Den in Monticello, GA, McFall discusses his struggles of the day, which leads the studio audience to the unexpected subject of Conquering Cancer.  Strong women with strong words of encouragement show that they can outlive any obstacle…and do so with courage, style, & grace.

In the second half of the show, special Guest Louie Skaradek of The London Broil Show and the Almost Homeless Comedy Tour calls in to impart tips on “Failing Forward” from his own point of view and share his personal experiences as a “stand-up-comic-in-the-making.”  His success is proof that hard work and perseverance can take you anywhere you want to go.

Our podcasting/talk radio Divas use laughter to introduce us to a very somber subject and touch on some very important points to help us get past the difficult times.

Once the episode gets rolling, the Dynamic Duo of Dreamcatching do their damnedest to prove that Failing Forward is not necessarily a bad thing.

Tonight’s lessons learned touch on how Failing helps you figure out how to succeed or, at the very least, decide what you should not be doing…whether it be in business, investments, or your relationships.

Surprise guest DaDenMan (of the No Agenda Stream) calls in to lend his military-trained views on Failure.  Soon after, Mordant gives homework…yes, homework.  This TOSOL “Fight Club” challenge is issued at the very end of the episode…just as McFall is called away on “Family Duties.”  A blindsided and somewhat disoriented Mordant does a little Failing Forward of his own, ending the show all by his lonesome.
